Overview
The Reforestation and Afforestation 2.0 method 2015 sunset on 1 October 2025.
At the request of the Assistant Minister for Climate Change and Energy, the Emissions Reduction Assurance Committee (the ERAC) undertook a review of the merits of remaking the Reforestation and Afforestation 2.0 method 2015. As part of this review the ERAC sought the views of stakeholders on the possible remaking of the method.
The ERAC’s review found there is merit in making a new Reforestation and Afforestation method. On 20 May 2026 the Assistant Minister announced that the government has prioritised the remaking of this method and that a consortium led by Midway Pty Ltd would undertake this work.
