Overview

The Nature Repair Act 2023 (the Act) came into effect on 15 December 2023, establishing a world-first legislated, national, voluntary biodiversity market.

The Nature Repair Market will incentivise actions to restore and protect the environment. It encourages nature positive land management practices that deliver improved biodiversity outcomes.

Those eligible to take part include:

  • First Nations people and organisations

  • conservation groups

  • farmers.

As we work to establish the scheme, we will be seeking your input on key elements including:

  • subordinate legislation, including legislative rules

  • methodologies

  • the biodiversity assessment instrument.

The information that you will provide will inform the development of the Market.
