Background

The Director of National Parks is developing a new management plan for the South-east Marine Parks Network. This network includes 14 Australian Marine Parks around Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia and one in the Southern Ocean. The Director manages the parks to protect biodiversity and other natural, social and cultural values and allow for ecologically sustainable use.

The current management plan for this Network expires on 30 June 2023 but will continue to apply until a new plan is in place.

The new plan will guide management of the network for the next 10 years.
