Final South-east Marine Parks Network Management Plan 2025

The Minister for the Environment and Water has approved new South-east Marine Parks Network Management Plan 2025. This plan commenced on 13 February 2025. Read the plan.

Second consultation period - Consultation on the Draft South-east Marine Parks Network Management Plan.

This consultation period occurred between 11 October and 14 November 2024 and was the second statutory consultation period in the South-east management plan review process.

A total of 18,400 campaign submissions and 90 unique submissions were received.

First consultation period - ‘Notice of Intent’ to prepare a draft management plan

From 20 March 2023 to 22 May 2023, the Director of National Parks sought public comment on the intent to prepare a draft management plan for the South-east Marine Parks Network.

A total of 13,529 campaign submissions and 40 unique submissions were received.

These submissions informed the development of the draft management plan.

Background

The South-east Marine Parks Network includes 14 marine parks in Commonwealth waters off Tasmania, Victoria, South Australia and the sub-Antarctic Macquarie Island. The previous management plan for the Network expired on 30 June 2023 and the Director of National Parks is required by law to prepare a new management plan for the next 10 years.
