Context:
In 2023, the Australian Government commissioned an independent review of the Inspector-General of Water Compliance, as part of the Government’s 2022 election commitment to increase compliance effort across the Murray-Darling Basin. The final report was delivered by independent reviewer Peter Harris AO in January 2024 (the Harris Review). The Australian Government published its response in June 2024 (Links are provided below). This current statutory review will consider the findings and recommendation of the Harris Review.
