On Friday, 28 March 2025 the government assumed a Caretaker role. Some consultations have been deactivated until further notice, in accordance with the Guidance on Caretaker Conventions.

Overview

On 12 August 2022, Energy Ministers agreed to reform the Retailer of Last Resort (RoLR) scheme in response to the Australian Energy Market Commission’s (AEMC) 2021 Review of the Retailer of Last Resort scheme and improving financial resilience of Tier 1 retailers.

These reforms focus on strengthening the RoLR scheme to improve resilience in the system and manage financial risk and contagion. The reforms seek to improve the operation of the scheme overall, and lower barriers to participation by retailers.

We are seeking your feedback on the proposed amendments to the RoLR scheme. Your feedback on each of the proposed reforms will inform us of any issues that may need to be resolved before the finalisation of the amendments Bill.

To have your say:

  • read the consultation paper and draft amendments Bill

  • Upload a submission

  • Submit your feedback by 5pm, Friday, 27 September 2024.
