Overview
An Independent Review Panel has reviewed how the Snowy Water Inquiry Outcomes Implementation Deed is working. The Review focused on ways to improve the health of the upper Murrumbidgee and Snowy rivers.
The Draft Report sets out the Review Panel’s advice on how the Deed could be improved.
The Report:

looks at how well the current Deed is working
suggests changes to address key issues to improve the health of the upper Murrumbidgee and Snowy rivers.
It also outlines possible impacts on:
the National Electricity Market
downstream water uses
local communities.
To develop the draft recommendations, the Panel considered:
technical evidence and modelling
input from three advisory groups and Snowy Hydro Limited
feedback from the earlier Issues Consultation: Independent Review of the Snowy Water Inquiry Outcomes Implementation Deed Summary Report.

The Review Panel invited public feedback on the Draft Report. The public consultation process ran from 7 July 2026 to 4 August 2026. This feedback will support the Review Panel in developing its final report, which will provide recommendations to the Australian Government.
