We are reviewing the cost recovery arrangements for Environmental Assessments under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).

We are seeking to revise the charges that currently apply. The charges were last revised in 2016 and are set out in the Cost Recovery Implementation Statement.

You can now provide feedback on the proposed changes to cost recovery under the EPBC Act.

The consultation paper discusses options for how we may implement changes to cost recovery to ensure sustainable funding for the following activities under the EPBC Act:

  • Environmental Assessments (Part 7 to 9 of the EPBC Act)

  • Permits (Part 13 of the EPBC Act)

  • Actions on Commonwealth Land (s160 of the EPBC Act)
