New WELS product nominations

We are looking at expanding the range of products regulated under the Water Efficiency Labelling and Standards (WELS) scheme.

Expanding the scheme will enable manufacturers and suppliers to show consumers that their products are water efficient using the WELS label. It will assist consumers make informed choices that save water, and help householders and businesses to save water and costs.

You can use this form to nominate a product to be considered for regulation and mandatory labelling under the WELS scheme. Your nomination and supporting information will help us perform an initial assessment on whether the product is suitable for inclusion.

Please do not nominate a product that has previously been nominated. Products that were nominated in previous years are available at our Water Rating website.

If you wish to nominate more than one product, fill out a nomination form for each product.

1. Complete the product nomination submission using this consultation platform.

2. Lodge your submission through this consultation platform by Friday, 14 March 2025.

All nominations received will be tested for suitability. If a product is found suitable, it will be prioritised for a preliminary assessment. If the preliminary assessment demonstrates a potential regulatory benefit, a more detailed assessment will occur. A detailed assessment is expected to be a multi-year process. You may be contacted during the assessment stages for further information or clarification.
