Proposed Offshore Wind Area: Indian Ocean off Bunbury, Western Australia

I see very few benefits that relate to local environment. Expansively the benefits are macro not local.
The current proximity to Geographe bay and shoreline is unacceptable with detrimental impacts to this environment and local stakeholders.
I'm aligned with the use of renewable energies however this also needs to be done in a sustainable manner that doesn't Destry the lives of those communities that accomodate them.

I live in Binningup Beach. I am an avid fisherman have invested thousands of hours and money into this pursuit. If you were to overlay the area in which I carry out this activity you couldn't with the proposed area you couldn't possibly do it any better.
My family of 4 have grown up enjoying this area. From attending a local consultation presentation, I'm extremely concerned about exclusion zones and also the damage that could be done to this area with the development of large scale wind.
With the advent of exclsion zones I'm concerned about the additional pressure that would be placed on those areas where access will be allowed.
Myself and the majority of my network of friends and associates rely heavily on this area for the majority of our lifestyle choices. It is in fact central to our choice of living in the region. These activities contribute extensively to the economy for the local area. Individually I've spent tens of thousands of dollars. in all likelihood in excess two hundred thousand dollars pursuing this activity. This is in the form of watercraft, fishing tackle, fuel, bait, marine electronics etc. The financial investment alone has me concerned about the viability of my chosen lifestyle choices.
I'm also concerned about the aesthetic's of this development. I've seen the simulations online and find them disingenuous at best, given the size of the turbines and proximity to shore. I also note that there are no night time visualisations. I'm sure that they will need to be illuminated at night for navigation purposes. I've spent a considerable amount of time at these distances from shore, and structures of this scale are easily seen from the distance proposed.
I'm concerned for the migration path of the humpback whale.
Given that I'm in general a supporter of renewable energy. I'm also concerned if these developments aren't done in a way that local communities support, projects will face a growing resistance. If the current zone proceeds as currently being circulated, each and every project will be greeted with enormous community mobilisation against it.
In summary my primary concern is how big and how close it is to shore. As it is currently proposed it impacts too heavily on an area that is heavily utilised by the local population.
Move it out beyond 100-200m. This will minimise the impact on current stakeholders and go a long way to appeasing local resistance.

I live in Binningup a small pristine beachside location. We located here to be away from urban development.
However my primary concern is related to the marine environment and local communities ability to be able to utilise the the area

Possible industry. I say possible because these benefits are always overstated. In all likelihood the majority would result in this employment and development occurring closer to the metropolitan area.
Also most people I know aren't motivated by further industry in our region. We choose to live here for lifestyle. If we wanted that we would move to metropolitan locations

Every concern I have is about the impact on the local community. Just about every community situated south of Mandurah extensively utilises this part of the marine environment. This isn't limited to the coastal communities. People from inland, from communities such as Collie, Harvey etc also use the area extensively as well.
The area is way too large and way too close to shore. It will be easily visible from shore and restrict the productivity and accessibility of the majority of recreational fishers in the region.

As stated in every other section of this submission. It is too large and too close to shore.
The damage that it would cause to this fragile marine environment won't be undone for generations. The areas that hold the primary targets in the region aren't extensive and easily defined. It is small structure and widely distributed.
The area that is currently proposed overlaps almost perfectly with most highly utilised fishing grounds for the majority of recreational fishers in the region.
