Sonar blasts used to map bedrock for these monstrosities, damage to fishing, danger to birds/planes/helicopters, danger to boating, danger to any whales, danger to cruise ships in area, unsightly constructions marring Tassie's beautiful coastline; and just an ideological whim of Chris Bowen being thrust upon us for no reason! we are already powered by hydropower, so he should take these disgusting towers out to Sydney Harbour where he and his inner city climate zealots can look upon them each day! Once Labor is thrown out of office at next election, there will be no need for these environmentally unfriendly and costly structures as we can go back to coal and gas power in the interim until nuclear power plants are built! And what reaction will there be to the chemicals, metals and plastics, etc, used to construct these behemoths?

If the wind doesn't blow, they will sit there like lame ducks. Also, these monsters are only able to turn by way of massive fossil fuel oil injection. If they leak (which they often do) then all this oil seeps into the sea. I see no benefit to anyone having these terrible structures blighting our shoreline.

these monstrosities are anchored to the sea bed and they float on huge concrete bases. These would interrupt the flow of the current, interrupt the breeding of fish and more importantly, their noise in operation will disorient larger species of fish, most particularly whales and dolphins. The noise they emit will also be able to be heard by shoreline communities.

Very ugly monstrosities that will affect the vista of our beautiful Tasmanian coastline. As I said previously, transfer this project to Sydney Harbour so that Chris Bowen and his inner city climate zealots can look upon them every day!

What about the cost of all these things? Not only of installation, but also of constant maintenance once installed? And these structures only last for a maximum of 15 years! Also, there will be further cost because of replacement after 15 years? More billions and billions of dollars. And what about their removal after their spent lifetime? These structures are non-recyclable, so they will either be left to rust on the bottom of Bass Strait, or they will be brought ashore and dumped in some unsightly way in the bush somewhere.
Further, we are buying all this stuff off China which could, at any time in the near future, invade Taiwan and then Australia. So, we are just sending our money overseas to aid the economy of a communist dictatorship that is hell-bent on controlling the world, our planet? I might add, too, that China is the highest emitter of carbon dioxide and its dictator Xi has no intention of lessening their pollution.
I am no businesswoman, but I can't see how these things are going to produce cheap electricity and/or make a profit for anyone but the Chinese.
