The benefits are the broad benefits of increasing the supply of renewable energy for Tasmania and facilitating the production of zero emissions fuel such as hydrogen. There is also the possibility increased supply to the east coast grid.

Diversity of renewably produced electricity has the potential to take the pressure of the Tasmanian hydro-electric system which may be of particular benefit in dry years.

Regional diversity in the Offshore Renewable energy projects has the potential to aid the stability of electricity supply.
Separately the Offshore Wind industry may be able to work with the Australian Maritime College at UTas in Launceston to provide training opportunities for aspiring seafarers.

Our main concern is that Australia's current maritime workforce is ageing and there is no industry-wide national training plan to skill the next generation of Australian seafarers.
