Would you like to submit any further feedback on your responses or the North Head Sanctuary Draft Master Plan?

North Head is a wonderful part of the gateway to Sydney Harbour that is already highly valued by the local community. Much of the benefit is the feeling of being in the outdoor wilderness and the views across the pacific and harbour.
Warringah Triathlon Club is a Northern Beaches Triathlon Club with 400 members and apart from being one of the most successful triathlon clubs in Australia and the world we still remain a community focused club.
We are blessed with the most magnificent training environment all the way along the northern beaches.
As part of that Warringah Triathlon Club and our members have been passive users of North Head since our incorporation in 1985, some of them maybe before that, we use the running trails and road for riding on North Head Scenic Drive.
Critically we have held our triathlon Club races at North Head for about 20 years too, which have been a continued success and remain very popular. We are a fee paying user of North Fort and the NPWS areas of North Head, whilst primarily we are providing these races and using North Head for the communities health and wellbeing (physical and mental) we also are advocates to enable our local community to be made aware of the history that is there and support the masterplan proposals.
Those races attract up to 100 participants once a month to enjoy the benefit of North Head. Whilst hosting those races our impact on the environment is minimal and we are extremely grateful to be able to host these races in such a pristine environment.
Most recently NPWS has upgraded the roads and paths with a good deal of community engagement and we have pleased with the outcomes.

Although we are keen to see the good use and are in favour of making the old Artillery Barracks a more viable precinct with some reuse and we also support the upgrade to pathways and signage, we would not want to see an increase in development or a that the signage is too overt.

What is really important to us is that during and following the proposed change of public domain works within the North Fort precinct that there would still be a zone that would accommodate the ability to set up a triathlon transition and event zone to ensure we can still host races at North Head and foster the passive use of the trails and roads.
Facilities that we require include a registration zone undercover and an areas allow us to set up our bike racks for approx. 100 bikes.

We have previously requested the ability to have a low impact storage container at North Fort that we could store our equipment or we note the allocation for a site storage facility in item 4 of the Central Precinct masterplan.

We would like to continue to be a stakeholder with close communication on the detail and program for the proposed works.

Thank you
