Re: IChEMS SCCP public consultation
Dear [redacted]
As the peak industry body, representing manufacturers and suppliers of plastics pipe and fittings, plastics resin suppliers, plastic fabricators, the Plastics Industry Pipe Association of Australia (PIPA) has consulted with its members on the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water proposal to schedule Short Chain Chlorinated Paraffin (SCCP) chemicals under the
Industrial Chemicals Environment Management Scheme (IChEMS).
I can confirm the plastic pipes industry does not use Short Chain Chlorinated Paraffin (SCCP) chemicals in the manufacturer of PVC pipes and fittings.
I would also like to confirm our industry does not use any chemicals of concern listed on IChEMS that may be used in the production of plastics. Plastic pipes and fittings play a critical role delivering essential everyday services and utilities to our homes and communities, providing the highest level of safety for carrying drinking water and are safe for people and the planet.
Kind Regards
