From 20 March 2023 to 22 May 2023, the Director of National Parks sought public comment on a proposal to expand Macquarie Island Marine Park. A total of 14,695 campaign submissions and 41 unique submissions were received. One of the unique submissions included a non-statutory part to their submission, which was received outside the public comment period and been identified as such below. 33 unique submissions have been published while 8 unique submissions were not published according to the privacy preferences of the authors.
The 14,695 campaign submissions provided generally the same or similar comments. There were three third party websites that were the source of these submissions. Three template submissions have been published under the names ‘Australian Marine Conservation Society’, ‘Save Our Marine Life’ and ‘DoGooder’.
