Overview

We are undertaking a strategic assessment of forest fire management activities in Victoria under national environmental law.

The Australian and Victorian governments have developed draft terms of reference for a strategic assessment under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999. The strategic assessment will examine the potential impacts of forest fire management actions by the Secretary of the Victorian Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action on matters of national environmental significance. Such matters include threatened species and ecological communities, heritage and wetlands of international importance.

You can now provide feedback on the draft terms of reference to help ensure the assessment is:

  • comprehensive

  • transparent

  • informed by community and stakeholder input.
